What is Molality ?

- Molality ( m ) is expressed as dissolved in hundred grams that is one kg of solvent it is denoted by m.

- It is calculate by : m = moles of solute / kg of solvent

What is Molarity ?

- It is expressed as moles of solute contained in one litre of solution or it is also taken as millimoles of solute in 1 ml of solution. It is denoted by M.

- It is calculated by : Molarity ( M ) = moles of solute / litres of solution = millimoles of solute / millimetres of solution.

From above, we can see that there is a need of volume to calculate molarity i.e molarity depends on volume. And in turn volume depends on temperature.

Where as Molality has no connection with volume of any substance.
