4% (w/v) means 4 g of NaOH is present in 100 ml solution.

Now,

molar mass of NaOH = 40 g/mol

Number of moles of NaOH present in 100 ml solution = 4 g /40 g mol-1

= 0.1

Number of moles present in 1000 mL solution = (0.1/100) x 1000 mL

= 1 mole / L

Thus, molarity = 1 M

Molarity=10×%w/v÷molar mass of solute

=10×4÷39

=1.0256mol/litre
