Given info : Moment of inertia of a uniform disc about an axis through its centre is I₁ and about an axis at a perpendicular distance d from its centre is I₂.

To find : the relation between them if m is the mass of disc.

solution : according to parallel axis theorem, if I_{cm} is the moment of inertia of an object about an axis through its centre of mass and I is the moment of inertia of about an axis passing through a distance d from its centre and mass of the object is m

then, I=I_{cm}+md^2

here, I = I₂ , I_cm = I₁

so, I₂ = I₁ + md²

Therefore the relation among them is I₂ = I₁ + md²
