There are 8 places to be filled by letters out of which 4 are even and 4 are odd.We need to select 3 out of the 4 odd places(to fill A,U,E of the word daughter).No of ways to do this selection=4C3=4ways. Now in these 3 places the 3 vowels can be arranged in 3!=6 ways.
Now the other 5 letters can be placed anywhere (without restriction)on the remaining places. No of ways to arrange the remaining 5 letters=5!=120 ways.
So total no of words = Answer to the problem = 4*6*120=2880 words.
