Monica has a piece of canvas with an area of 551 m2. He uses the piece to make a cone-shaped tent with a radius of 7m base. Finding the volume of the tent if 1m2 is 4 wasted in taking and cutting stitches. (There is no canvas in the base of the tent)​

To Find :   volume of the tent

Solution:

a piece of canvas with an area of 551 m².  

1 m² is   wasted

Hence Surface area = 551 - 1 = 550 m²

as no base is there

so Curve surface area of cone =  550 m²

Curve surface area of cone = πrl

=> πrl =  550

=> (22/7) * 7 * l  = 550

=> l  = 25  m

l = slant height

h² = 25² - 7²

=>  h = 24 m

Volume =  (1/3) πr²h

= ( 1/3) (22/7) 7² * 24

=  22 * 7 * 8

= 1232 cm³

volume of the tent   = 1232 cm³
