The chlorinatiin of ethane to ethyl chloride is more easier than the chlorination of n-pentane as chlorination of n-pentane gives various isomers of C5H11Cl but
chlorination of ehtane gives only ethyl chloride.

Monochlorination of ethane is more practical than chlorination of n-pentane. Chlorination of n-pentane forms various isomers of C5H11 Cl whereas chlorination of ethane forms CH3 – CH2 - Cl
