The speed of light depends on the medium. The wavelength also depends on the medium in which light waves travel. But the Frequency depends on the source that generates the light waves.
Wavelength in air = λ = 589 nm. let the speed of light in air = c = 3 * 10⁸ m/s
frequency f = c / λ = 5.0933 * 10¹⁴ Hertz
a) reflected light
it will have the same characteristics as the incident light. Reason is: The frequency is always the same. Speed is same as medium is air. Hence wavelength is also same.
b) refracted light.
Refractive index μ of water = 1.33
speed of light in water = 3 * 10⁸/ 1.33 = 2.255 * 10⁸ m/s
frequency = f = same = 5.0933 * 10¹⁴ Hertz
wavelength = λ = 2.255 * 10⁸ / (5.0933 * 10¹⁴) = 442.86 nm
