Monocot plants are characterized by the presence of Fibrous roots.

Characteristically a fibrous root system is simply the opposite of taproot system.

Instead of thick branching it is featured with rather thin medium branching pattern of roots growing directly from the main stem.

All monocotyledonous plants and even fern plants too have fibrous root system.
