Monomers is a compound which can undergo polymerization to form a larger compound made of the same material. There are various monomers available for melanin. One of the monomers of melanin is melamine formaldehyde which is abbreviated as MF.

Melanin formaldehyde is a hard compound which is very much durable. They are resistant to heat and fire. It is made by condensation of two compounds namely menaline and formaldehyde and this two compounds polymerise to form melanine formaldehyde.
