let charge for staying be X
let charge for food be y
first,
X+20y=1700
then Rahim,
X +24y=1900
subtracting both equations,
we get y=50,
then putting the value in one equation ,
we get X=700

The fixed charge is Rs 700 and the cost of the food per day is Rs 50 .

  • Let the fixed charge be x and let the charge of food per day be y .
  • Then , according to the first statement,

       x + 20 y = 1700    .....(i)

       and ,

       x + 24 y = 1900    ......(ii)

  • After solving (i) and (ii) , we get ,

the value of x that is fixed cost = Rs 700

and , the value of y that is cost of food per day = Rs 50
