Hey mate,..

Montmorency is an intelligent Fox Terrier who acts as a fourth character in the book. He is assertive and frequently acts as a character foil to the men's inept outdoor skills,

"Montmorency’s ambition in life is to get in the way and be sworn at. If he can squirm in anywhere where he is particularly not wanted, and be a perfect nuisance, and make people mad, and have things thrown at his head, then he feels his day has not been wasted."

Hope it will help you.

Sai.

HERE IT IS.....

>> Montmorency is portrayed almost as the fourth member of this group, here writer wants to say that just like Jerome,George and Harris Montmorency like to showoff and to disturb everything and just like Jerome he wants to get scolded and wanted to be a perfect nuisance. So in this story he plays an important part where he became a big nuisance for Jerome, So he was just like a fourth character which can be described so,these are the things which writer says about the dog.
