The moon does not shine byits own light, but by the reflected lightof the sun. We see the moon because the sun is shining on it. The surface of the moon is actually very rocky and fairly dark (about the color of the asphalt on most of our city roads).

moon does not have its own light it reflects the light of the sun. thus we are able to see the moon
