This is because moon uses the sunlight of the sun and due to reflection phenomenon the moon appears like a luminous body.

Moon is the only natural light source of our planet,in the night time.But,still the moon is non-luminous.

The light of the moon is actually the light rays of the sun which reflects on the moon's surface and reaches our planet in the night time.

Due to the reflection a huge amount of light is often wasted in the traveling path.

That's why moon's light intensity is less than the sun.
