Answer:

Explanation:

it is due to the gravitational pull of earth over the moon and the pull of moon on the earth.

The pull of the earth is larger, that's why the earth revolves around the sun.

Answer:

Explanation:

The Moon makes a complete orbit around Earth in 27 Earth days and rotates or spins at that same rate, or in that same amount of time. Because Earth is moving as well — rotating on its axis as it orbits the sun — from our perspective, the Moon appears to orbit us every 29 days.

Try a thought experiment;

Imagine there was a very long and very large plank of wood that was balanced on a fine needle or point.

Imagine that you could put the earth at one end of the plank and the moon at the other. If you did so the earth would outweigh the moon and the plank would tip in the direction of the earth in the same way that a seesaw tips in the direction of a heavier person.

In order to get a balance you would need to move the moon much further away from the balance point in the middle. You can imagine a point where the earth is balanced on one short end of the plank the moon is balanced at the other end of a very long piece of the plank.

Imagine you can now spin the plank. The earth and the moon now rotate around the balance point.

In reality the balance point is so close to the earth that it is actually inside the earth but not at the centre.

The earth and the moon still rotate around the balance point which is the centre of gravity of the two bodies but it just so happens that the centre of gravity is under the earth's surface.

Therefore the moon appears to go round the earth but it goes around the center of gravity which happens to be within the earth and the earth also goes round the centre of gravity even though it is within the earth itself.
