Explanation:

India boasts of a tradition in which animals and birds were an integral part of man’s life and were* also worshipped with devotion and piety. In the Hindu pantheon, almost every bird and animal, along with a tree and flower, Is associated with a God or Goddess, thus enabling that creature to be treated with respect. However, this attitude is changing.

Though people continue to worship gods and goddesses, they no longer revere the animals associated with them. Many creatures are eaten for food and many others are killed for their priced skin, teeth, nails or hair. In spite of there being organizations like SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), animals are regularly poached in the forests or smuggled out of them and sold in foreign countries.

Thus, we see that the people of this once-great nation are no longer great. They are ready to kill all animals for their own survival and prosperity, without realizing that they are digging their own graves by such acts.
