Planting more trees helps improve air quality in two ways.

To begin with, plants and trees require carbon dioxide to produce food. The process of photosynthesis cannot be completed without carbon dioxide. So, trees take in carbon dioxide, thus reducing the level of the pollutant gas in the air.

Additionally, during photosynthesis, oxygen is produced as a by-product. Trees do not require oxygen and hence it is released into the air. This increases the percentage of oxygen in the air, thus improving the overall air quality.

Logically speaking, the more the number of trees, the greater will be the carbon dioxide absorption and a greater amount of oxygen release. Both activities improve air quality. This is why tree planting campaigns are becoming so important.
