Hi. In a Displacement reaction, the more reactive element replaces the less reactive element in a chemical reaction. The elements are arranged in the order of high to low in terms of their reactivity. The attachment shows the reactivity series of some metals.

Copper Sulphate + Iron → Iron Sulphate + Copper

CuSO₄ + Fe → FeSO₄ + Cu

In the above reaction, Copper is replace from its salt solution by iron because iron is more reactive than copper. If we place Copper in Iron Sulphate solution, nothing will happen as copper is less reactive than iron and it would not be able to replace iron from its salt solution.

Hope it helps.
