If more stomata are on the upper surface of a leaf, then excessivetranspiration would occur, resulting in quick wilting of the plant. Hence mostplants have more numerous stomata on the lower surface of a leaf to control the rate oftranspiration.

In all green plants transpiration occursmostly through the stomata of theleaves. In dicot plants leaves will havemore stomata on the lower surface than the upper surface. So more transpiration occurs through the lower surface of the leaves of this plant.
