Good morning everyone, honorable chief guests, respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. Today I am going to talk about National Doctors day which is celebrated to honors the noble work of doctors in India. Now, I would like to start my speech.
From the Vedic era in India, Saadhus and Rishimoonis used to provide medicines to people to cure their illnesses. The source of their knowledge came from the Ayurveda, which is the source of the many scientific discoveries in today’s modern medical field. Today, doctors help us to cure our illness. The advancement of technology is at its peak and the medical field is no exception to that.
Today, the cure for many dangerous diseases are available easily anywhere which was impossible a few decades ago. Because of the advance medical discoveries many dangerous diseases and disorders like Polio, leprosy, measles is about vanished from the world, once which was a global medical problem.
History, Origin of National Doctors Day in India
To celebrate the immense and selfless contribution of doctors, physicians, health experts in India, 1st July is celebrated as the National Doctors Day. It is the day we celebrate the selfless service of doctors and their huge contribution to the medical advancement in India.
From neurosurgeons to dentists, heart specialists to homeopaths, physicians to pediatricians, national doctors day is the day to pay tribute to the whole medical profession. The day is celebrated to highlight the value of doctors in our lives.
The date 1st July is celebrated as National Doctors Day of India in the remembrance of the legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on July 1, 1882, and died on the same date in 1962. He was honored with India’s highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna on February 4, 1961. The Doctors day is observed on different dates in different countries. Like in the United States, the Doctors day is observed on 30th March, in Cuba, it is celebrated on 3rd December, and August 23 in Iran.
National Doctors Day 2019 Theme
Every year a theme is announced to celebrate the National Doctors Day. The day is celebrated according to the theme and keeping the theme in mind. For the year 2019, the theme is “zero tolerance to violence against doctors and clinical establishment”. National Doctors Day theme for 2019 will create awareness about the violence happening with the doctors across India. The week of July 1 to Jul 8, 2019, will also be celebrated as ‘Safe Fraternity Week’.
