When a bryophyte spore settles somewhere, it grows into a gametophyte. Gametophytes are green and leafy, but small. A gametophyte's reproductive organs are called antheridia (male) and archegonia (female). The antheridia and archegonia look like little umbrellas sticking up from the plant.
