Mosquitoes can be controlled by preventing stagnation of water though they don't live in water.Why?

mosquitoes don't live in water, but they hatch eggs in stagnant water, so if we prevent stagnation of water, we can control mosquito birth and thus can control their population.

They hatch eggs in stagnant water so although the mosquitoes themselves won’t die but it would destroy their breeding ground
