Mosquitos can be controlled by preventing stagnation of water though they don't live in water because mosquitos lay their eggs in stagnated water, they get most nutrients after hatching from water and then they spread diseases like dengue , malaria , chikungunya etc.

Though mosquitos do not live in water but they breed in water, that's why we should not allow water to gather in areas where we live
