Algae use this chlorophyll a to make their own sugars called glucose. Algae uses the Sun's light, its own cholorphyll a, carbon dioxide (which we breathe out), and water in their photosynthesis process. In turn, they are able to make their own glucose (sugar) and produce oxygen as a byproduct.
