Most capillaries are less than a hundredth of a millimetre across and about 1 millimetre long. On the other hand, you have about 40 billion of them! If you could stitch them up end-to-end they'd wrap around Earth twice!

Keeping in mind their function, discuss why do you think capillaries are so small and numerous?
