The most occurring form of Lead, Copper and Zinc are found in ores that are extracted together. As Lead commonly reacts with sulphur, it is classified as a chalcophile using the Goldschmidt classification. This pronounced character of lead is similar to those of Zinc and Copper. Lead commonly occurs as galena; the most common Copper ores are chalcopyrite, chalcocite, bornite, covellite, enargite and tetrahedrite; the most common Zinc ores are sphalerite, marmatite and smithsonite.
The ores of all these metals mostly occur as some form of sulphur compound.
