hey.

Alpha particles are a form of nuclear radiation with a large positive charge. ... most of the alpha particles did pass straightthrough the foil. a small number of alpha particles were deflected by large angles (> 4°) as theypassed through the foil. a very small number of alpha particlescame straight back off the foil.

Most of the alpha particles passed without deflected because most of the gold foil have electrons in more number as compare to neutron and proton which are inside nucleous and nucleous is just one and most of the space was empty so they go without deflected.
