Most of the chemical reactions do not start automatically due to the presence of an energy barrier of the reactant molecules. Use the concept of the activation energy to explain how can a reaction be made to proceed forward and form the required products.​

we use catalyst which lower the activation energy which decreases amount of energy required to cross energy barrier and reaction take place in forward diretion. catalyst also slow or fasten reaction depending on nature of catalyst

The chemical or metabolic conversion refers to a reaction. Most of the chemical reactions do not start automatically because the reactant molecules have an energy barrier to become reactive. Therefore, an external supply of energy is needed for the start of the chemical reaction. It is called activation energy. Enzymes lower the activation energy required for a reaction.Once a spark has provided enough energy to get some molecules over the activation energy barrier, those molecules complete the reaction, releasing energy. The released energy helps other fuel molecules get over the energy barrier as well, leading to a chain reaction.
