Harappan cities had following characteristics:

• They were mostly divided into two parts, the citadel and the lower town.

•The citadel was occupied by rulers whereas lower town was occupied by common people.

•They had well planed streets and drainage system .

•The houses had one or two floors and had a central courtyard.

•Other building that were mostly meant for public use of work.The Great bath,Tank and Graneries.
