On 15 May 1975 the President of India ratified a constitutional amendment that made Sikkim the 22nd state of India. Sikkim (/ˈsɪkɪm/; pronounced [ˈsɪkːɪm]) is a state in northeastern India.

1. Lack of railway station or an Airport in the state. The closest one is in Siliguri, WB. A 4hr harrowing drive from the capital.
This problem is further aggravated when landslides hit the National Highway. The price of essential commodities hike as traders start hoarding.
2. No decent cinema hall. There are two privately owned halls with substandard amenities. No 3D screens. Nothing just your local 90s celluloid screen. This is partly due to the fact that entertainment tax is higher than excise duty.
3. Unemployment.
The only source of employment for the Sikkimese is Govt jobs which is already overburdened with redundant employees. None of the MNCs have set their bases here. Recently few pharmaceutical companies have set up few bases. But the Sikkimese youths only hold minor roles.
