most of the space in atom is empty . why?

most of the space in atom is empty because atoms contain electrons whose mass is negligible.so the nucleus contain all the mass of the atom as having both neutrons and protons.also atoms contain many shells or orbits in which electons revolve.therefore because of this most of the space in atom is empty.

Most of the the space in an atom is empty because, most of the Alfa particles pass through the foil without undergoing any deflection during Rutherford's scattering experiment. From this he came to the conclusion that most of the space in an atom is empty.
