Most parts of india remain dry during winter?give reasons

Though India is surrounded by oceans on the three sides, but the Himalayas plays an important role in the monsoons of the country. During the winters the Himalayas block the moisture bearing winds in the N,NE and NW. The only part thus experiences rainfall in winter is the south.(Tamilnadu and Kerala).
