There are many people with different religion in India following Hinduism, Muslim, Christians, Buddhist etc. there are many people in India following different religions because once two-three countries with different religions were part of our country and when all countries divided and got independence there were many people of different countries and religions living Hinduism left in our country. One more reason is that because of the traders who came from far countries crossing the oceans to India.
