Most reptiles are inactive during winter but some are also inactive during summer. This is because reptiles are cold blooded animals and they depend directly on the external environmental factors like temperature and moisture to regulate their body temperature.

While in winters they hibernate after stocking up and storing food and stay inactive, sometimes during summers also they remain inactive. This is because too much of heat makes their body too warn and they start losing moisture and become dehydrated.

So, they remain inactive and prevent excessive heating up of their blood.
