Solution : Let, age of son be ‘ x ’ years

Hence, age of mother is ‘ x + 25 ’ years.

Now, according to given,

Age of son and age if mother after 8 year will be :

⟹ Son age after 8 year

= {x + 8} years

Similarly,

⟹ Mother age after 8 year

= {x + 25 + 8} years

⟹ Mother age after 8 year

= {x + 33} years

Now, according to given, after 8 years the ratio son's age to mother's age will be 4/9, hence :

⟹ {son age}/{mother age} = 4/9

⟹ {x + 8}/{x+33} = 4/9

⟹ 9*{x + 8} = 4*{x+33}

⟹ 9x + 72 = 4x + 132

⟹ 9x - 4x = 132 - 72

⟹ 5x = 60

⟹ x = 60/5

⟹ x = 12 years

Answer : Hence, age of son is 12 years.
