Step-by-step explanation:

Part of guava given to Meena = 3/8

Part of guava given to Geeta = 2/8

Part of guava left with mother = 3/8 + 2/8

                                                     = 5/8

= 8/8 - 5/8

= 3/8 of the guava is left with mother.

If you didn't understand this method, let me explain.

The entire guava can be calculated as 8/8 ( You see, the given fractions are out of 8. ) According to the question, both Meena and Geeta have recieved a part of it. So, we need to calculate the total part of the guava given to them. Since, the denominators are the same, we do not have to convert. So, adding 3/8 + 2/8 gives the result as 5/8.

Now, we need to find the guava left with mother. So, out of 8/8 mother gave 5/8 to the children. Hence, 8/8 ( The total ) - 5/8 ( Given amount )

which gives 3/8 as the remaining part of the guava
