A baby has characters of both parents as the genes from both parents are transferred to the child.This happens because of DNA. From the 22 pairs of chromosomes half are transferred from mother and half from father . These characteristics or traits are called inherited traits because they came from our parents. This is the reason behind a child having both characteristics.
