⇒ 9X + 72 = 4X + 132

∴ Present age of son = X = 12 Years.

After 8 years

son's age = x + 8

mother's age = y

ratio of son's age to mother's age = 4/9

Therefore x+8 / y+8 = 4/9

9x + 72 = 4y + 32

so, 9x - 4y + 72 - 32 = 0
