*Correct Question:-

  • The sum of the ages of a mother and her daughter is 60 years. After 15 years, the mother's age will be twice as that of her daughter's age at that time. What are their present ages?

Step-by-step explanation:

Let present age of mother is x and daughter is y:-

So x+y= 60 equation no.1

Their age after 15 years

Mother = x+15

Daughter = y+15

According to question:-

x+15= 2( y+15)

x+15= 2y+ 30

x-15= 2y equation 2

Now substitutjng equation 1 and 2

x-15= 2(60-x)

x-15= 120- 2x

3x= 135

x = 135/3

x= 45 years

Mother age is 45 years

Daughter age 60–45= 15 years
