Given : Motor riders Vladimir and Varya started their rides from two points that are 160 miles apart.

Laika  Vladimir's pet parrot started chasing Vladimir's motorcycle and overtakes him and meets Varya.

Then Laika flew back towards Vladimir.

The parrot then started flying back and forth between the two riders.

The parrot flew at the speed of 25 mph,

while Vladimir and Varya's speed was 20 mph.

To Find : What was the total distance that Laika flew in miles?

Solution:

We know speed of Laika

We need to find Time for which parrot Laika flew to find distance covered by it.

Time Parrot flew is same as time motor riders drive

Let say T hrs

Distance covered by motor riders = 20 * T + 20T = 160

=> 40T = 160

=> T = 4  hrs

Distance covered by Laika = 25 x 4  = 100 miles

total distance that Laika flew in miles = 100 miles
