THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
PWD minister G Sudhakaran said that all road maintenance works in connection with Attukal Pongalawill be completed by February 20. He was speaking at a meeting of temple authorities and PWD engineers on Wednesday to review works for Attukal Pongala which is scheduled to be held on March 2.
The PWD has allotted Rs 5.4 crore for around 22 works in connection with Attukal temple festival in Nemom and Thiruvananthapuram constituencies. Projects worth around Rs 6.37 crores were completed in the last two years in the two constituencies.
Minister said that the practice of asking for more funds for preliminary works for pongala must be stopped. All expense of preliminary arrangements must be met from the maintenance funds, he said.
PWD minister has given direction to PWD officials to prepare detailed project report for laying BM&BC in roads within 5km radius of the temple.
Attukal trust chairman Raveendran Nair, trust secretary Sisupalan Nair, chief engineer Jeevaraj and other PWD engineers attended the function.
