The 10 % salt solution is hypertonic to the concentration inside the rhoeo leaf cells. 

When plant cells are place in a hypertonic solution what happens is that the cells become plasmolysed. 

Plasmolysis is the process by which plant cells lose water through exosmosis to the external environment when placed in an hypertonic solution. The loss of water by the plant cells causes them to shrink up. In animal cells the exact occurrence is referred to as crenation.

When observed through the microscope, the observer will see cells of the rhoeo leaf, crumpled and shrunken.
