Along with having a way with animals, birds and farmers, Mourad, a cousin of the narrator possessed many other positive qualities. He was full of life and always followed his heart and passions. Mourad was really good at taking up responsibilities even during the most difficult situations and solving them. He, although steals a horse, considers it not to be stealing a he was not going to sell it. Later he does have a conscience and chooses to return the horse to its desperate owner, John Byro. This shows his responsibility and care towards the farmer, his family and their reputations.
