Energy exists in two forms: potential and kinetic. Water molecules move according to differences in potential energy between where they are and where they are going. Gravity and pressure are two enabling forces for this movement.

Movement of dissolved molecules in and out of cell through cell membrane from region of lower concentration to region of higher concentration.

Particles move against concentration gradient using energy released during respiration.

Sometimes dissolved molecules are at higher concentration inside cell than outside but because organism requires these molecules they still needs absorption.

Carrier proteins picks specific molecules and take through cell membrane against concentration gradient.
