Mr. A sold an article to Mr. B at a profit of 2.5%. B sold the same to Mr. C at a loss of 10%. If C paid ₹9.90 for it, how much did it cost A?

let cost of the article to A is x rs. profit =2.5% x+x2.5/100(Selling price)

so Selling price is 41x/40 which will be the cost price for B. now B sold the article for the loss of 10%(41x/40×10/100 ie. 41x/400

now Selling price will be

41x/40-41x/400=369x/400

it is given the Selling price is 9.90

so 369x/400=9.90

x =9.90×400/369=440/41

10.73 will be the cost of the article for A.
