Mr Aaron Jude
Mr. Aaron Jude, a car dealer, sold cars of only two brands, A and B, in the previous year. This year,
he introduced a new brand, C. The number of cars of cars of brand A and brand B sold in the
previous year were in the ratio 3:2, and the ratio of the number of cars sold in the previous year to
that sold in this year is 2:3 for brand A and 2 : 5 for brand B. Further, the number of cars of brand C
sold this year forms 81 % of the total number of cars sold this year.
Q3: In the next year, Mr. Aaron Jude wants to increase the total sales by 80%, compared to the total
sales this year, by keeping the sales of each of A, B and C at the same level as that in this year and
introducing a new brand D. By what percent will the number of cars of brand D (to be sold next
year) be more than the total number of cars sold last year?

Given : The number of cars of cars of brand A and brand B sold in the

previous year were in the ratio 3:2,

the ratio of the number of cars sold in the previous year to that sold in this year is 2:3 for brand A and 2 : 5 for brand B

number of cars of brand C sold this year forms 81 % of the total number of cars sold this year.

In the next year, Mr. Aaron Jude wants to increase the total sales by 80%, compared to the total sales this year, by keeping the sales of each of A, B and C at the same level as that in this year and introducing a new brand D

To Find : By what percent will the number of cars of brand D (to be sold next year) be more than the total number of cars sold last year?

Solution:

in the previous year

Car A sold  =  6x   then Car B Sold = 4x  as ratio is  3: 2

Total car Sold = 10x

in this year car A  sold  (3/2)6x  = 9x

in this year car B  sold  (5/2)4=    10x

Car A + Car B = 19x

cars of brand C sold this year forms 81 % of the total number of cars sold this year.

Hence 81x  car C sold   and  total = 100x  sold this year

Mr. Aaron Jude wants to increase the total sales by 80%, compared to the total sales this year,

Hence sales in next year = 100x + (80/100)100x  = 180x

Brand D cars =  180x - 100x = 80x  sold in next year

Cars sold in previous year = 10x

Car D sold in next year = 80x

80x - 10x  = 70x

(70x/10x) * 100 = 700 %

700 percent will the number of cars of brand D (to be sold next

year) be more than the total number of cars sold last year
