Solution:

Mr. Adderley and Mr. Bain   share profits in the ratio of 7:9.

Let say  Mr. Adderley Share = 7k  $

then Mr. Bain  Share = 9k   $

Total Share = 7k + 9k = 16k   $

total profits were $49,600

=> 16k = 49600

=> k = 3100

Mr. Bain  Share =  9k = 9 * 3100  = 27900 $

Mr. Bain's share.  = 27900 $
