Mr Amrit Lal had gone to attend a marriage ceremony, leaving his servant Babloo behind him. Babloo was sleeping alone in the house, suddenly he woke up hearing some noises in the courtyard. He lay still and listened carefully, but he could not hear the noises and so he must have had a dream. He smiled, thinking about how silly he was to imagine such a thing and closed his eyes again. Just then, he heard the noises again and the dog in the neighbours house barking. Babloo knew somebody had entered the premises and he knew he had to act fast. He knew that his masters room had a switch that would light up the entire house and an alarm, that would sound out a siren. He knew he just had to switch these on, and he was sure he would be able to scare the thief away. He woke up and went down quietly. He had goose bumps on his arms. He held a knife in his hand and his lips were moving, he was obviously praying.
He switched on the lights and just as he reached out his hands to switch on the alarm, he heard the "purring" of a cat. It was only two cats fighting! Babloo said a quick prayer of thanks to God, especially because he had not switched on the alarm and made a mockery of himself.

Mr Amrit Lal had gone to attend a marriage ceremony -leaving Babloo, his servant behind him. Babloo was sleeping alone in the house and suddenly he woke up hearing some noises in the courtyard. Babloo first thought he was dreaming, but then he looked at the clock. It was quarter past one. He realized that his master had gone to attend a wedding and hadn't come back yet. The thought made him perspire in his quilt. He became blank for a moment, but then he remembered the movie he had seen with his master's son Abhay when he came for vacation during winters. He quietly got up and tiptoed to the door to unlatch it. When he opened the door, what he saw in the dim moonlight gave him goosebumps. As if he froze for a fraction of a second.

There sat beside the basil plant two masked men and the very first name that struck him was terrorists. He didn't feel it safe to go out, so he turned back and made his way to his master's room and headed towards the table on which lay telephone. He dialed his master's number and whispered out to his master the whole scenario. He was about to start for home. But he told Babloo to stay in that room latched until he did what was appropriate.

Babloo shut himself in the room and with throbbing heart waited to hear when his master would come. Within a few minutes there was police and Amrit Lal both at the gate of the courtyard and after a brief encounter, the police was able to catch both the masked men. The police appreciated Babloo's courage and presence of mind and his master also gave him his favorite chocolate the next day before going for work.
