He wants to divide the field into four equal and identical parts so that he may give three parts to his three sons and retain the fourth with him. (i) Is it possible to divide the field into four parts which are equal and identical (ii) If yes, explain the method of division. Very easy.

Mr Balwant Singh needs to find the midpoints D of BC,  E of AC and F of AB.
Now join DE, EF and FD.

The four equal and identical (shape) parts are : 
ΔAFE,   ΔBFD.   ΔDEC           ΔDEF

They are identical as the lines  DE, EF, and FD are parallel to the sides of ΔABC.  They are all similar triangles.  Their sides are half of that of ΔABC. 

By dividing the field in this manner,  Mr Singh has demonstrated an equal and impartial love for all the children.  He also demonstrated the respect he gave to the children to develop themselves and not depend on him only.
He has given independence to each of them to work for themselves and their families.
