The question says the sum of two age of the elder son & one son is 15.

Here elder doesn't mean eldest.

Take option 2:
eldest son's age=11
then,
11-2=9(elder son)
9-3=6(youngest son)
now check ..
it satisfies t he statement "the sum of two age of the elder son & one son is 15."(9+6=15)
So,correct ans should be 11.

The age of the eldest son is 11 years.

GIVEN: Mr. dash has 3 sons whose ages are respectively a,b,c. the grandfather has bought a cycle for the eldest son, mother has bought a bag for the youngest one which cost rs150/. the sum of the two ages of the elder son & one son is 15. The difference in the age of sons is 3 & 2.
TO FIND The age of the eldest son.

SOLUTION:

As we are given in the question,

The sum of two ages of the elder son & one son is 15.

Also,

Eldest son's age=11

then,

11-2=9(elder son)

9-3=6(youngest son)

It satisfies the statement "the sum of two ages of the elder son & one son is 15."(9+6=15)

Therefore,

The age of the eldest son is 11 years.
