Given :- Mr.Drew wants to build a square sandbox with an area of 289 square feet. What is the total length of wood Mr. Drew needs to make the sides of the sandbox ?

Solution :-

given that, mr.draw wants to bulid a square sandbox whose are will be 289 feet².

So,

Let us assume that, each side of square sandbox is x feet .

Than,

→ Each side of square sandbox = x feet .

→ Area of square sandbox = (side)² = (x)² = x² feet².

comparing with given area we get,

→ x² feet² = 289 feet²

→ x² = (17)²

square root both sides,

x = 17 feet .

Therefore, each side of square sandbox is 17 feet.

Now,

→ each side of square sandbox is = 17 feet.

So,

Total length of wood to make the sides of the sandbox = 4 * side = 4 * 17 = 68 feet (Ans.)

Hence, Mr. Drew needs 68 feet long wood to make the sides of the sandbox.
